About The Cover

We believe hospitality has
the highest responsibility
of any business. Full stop.

The Cover is a Chennai-based hospitality consultancy that works with cafes, restaurants, and hospitality professionals to build better operations, stronger teams, and a service culture that actually holds up under pressure.

We work from the inside out. That means sitting with your team, understanding your operations, and building solutions that fit your actual establishment, not a template from a textbook.

Right now, we focus on operations audits, SOPs, team training, HR frameworks, and done-for-you operational setup. We also run free certification courses for hospitality professionals through this website.

In 3–5 years, we want to be one of the recognised authorities on hospitality operations in India. In 15–20, we want to be known globally as the people who took this industry seriously enough to explore it, teach it, and argue for its place as one of the most human things a business can do.

For the small operator

If you're running a cafe or restaurant and the gap between your vision and your daily reality feels wide. We close that gap. One system at a time.

For the hospitality professional

If you want to get better at what you do, whether you're just starting or managing a full team, the courses and writing on this site are built for you.

For the graduate entering the field

If you're walking into your first role in hospitality, you deserve a clearer picture of what the work actually looks like. That's what we write about.

The Founders

Pramodh Kuppan

Founder, The Cover

Before hospitality, I was in IT. I left not because I failed at it, but because I was empty. I needed work that put me in front of people, not screens. That crossover from systems thinking to service culture became the lens through which I built The Cover. I think in processes. I see operations as systems. And I bring that into every establishment I work with.

My career in hospitality started behind a Burger King counter in Paris, part-time, learning the ropes. A few years later, I was running the floor of an Italian pizzeria in the same city. Then Bangalore. Then Chennai, where I led and managed Bread and Brew.

In under five years, I moved through more roles and kitchens than most people do in a decade. Each one taught me something a textbook couldn't: about people, pressure, and what it actually takes to make someone feel welcome. Not just served. Welcome.

That distinction became the foundation of The Cover. Because the gap between a guest being served and a guest feeling genuinely looked after is entirely an operational one. It comes down to the systems you have, the training your team receives, and the culture the manager builds on the floor every single day.

We started The Cover because we believe hospitality in India is underserved, not by people who don't care, but by people who care deeply and have never had the right support. We want to be part of building that support system. For operators. For teams. For everyone choosing this industry as their life's work.

Harshad Baradwaj

Co-Founder, Marketing & Growth, The Cover

Harshad brings a growth-first mindset to hospitality, with experience across cafés, cloud kitchens, and restaurant formats. His work has consistently focused on one core outcome: building businesses that don't just run, but scale.

Having worked at the intersection of operations, branding, and digital growth, he has been involved in shaping concepts, driving customer acquisition, and creating systems that translate into consistent revenue. From launching and positioning food brands to optimizing performance through marketing, his approach blends strategy with execution.

What sets him apart is his ability to look beyond day-to-day operations and identify long-term growth potential, turning standalone outlets into brands with structure, recall, and scalability.

He believes that most hospitality businesses in India underinvest in branding and consistency, and that real growth comes from treating a café not just as a service, but as a scalable business system.
